Kelly Ripa Reveals The Meanings Behind Her Children's Names
Lifestyle - News
Fans of "Live With Kelly and Ryan" are often entertained when Kelly Ripa pulls the curtain back and lets viewers peek into her family’s life. Her three children are all adults now, and recently Kelly revealed how she and her husband, Mark Consuelos, chose their childrens’ names.
Originally, Kelly and Mark had agreed to name their first-born son Joaquin. However, right before their son was born, both of Mark’s grandfathers passed away, so the couple named their eldest child Michael to honor his great-grandfathers.
Kelly and Mark were in a taxi on the way to the hospital while Kelly was in labor, and Barry Manilow's "Copacabana" came on the radio. When the couple heard Manilow sing the line, "Her name was Lola," they decided that, if their second baby were a girl, her name would be Lola.
Kelly and Mark didn't even have a name picked out for their youngest child, but they remembered that Joaquin was the name they had agreed on, but hadn’t used for Michael. When the couple found out their third baby would be a boy, the decision was easy; Joaquin it was.
