The Truth About When Prince Charles Met Barbra Streisand

Prince Charles is doing what he can to thank the staff and volunteers of the National Health Service (NHS) by being part of an hour-long show on hospital radio, according to BBC News. The program titled "Music & Memories With HRH The Prince Of Wales" features the Prince of Wales discussing a few of his favorite songs and artists, per CNN. Included in his roundup is Diana Ross, Edith Piaf, and the Three Degrees. Along with the special that is to air midday on July 4, Spotify will also be releasing a 13-song playlist of the Prince's favorite songs.

It's all part of a national Thank You Day which was established to thank all the "unsung heroes" of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the U.K. Government. Other festivities include a "BB-Thank-Q," which will be attended by Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and in addition to Prince Charles' special, the U.K. airwaves will be filled with thank you's throughout the day. If you happened to catch Charles' thank you on the radio, you may have also heard him talk about the first time he met Barbra Streisand.

The way Prince Charles and Barbra Streisand almost were

In "Music & Memories With HRH The Prince Of Wales," Prince Charles recalls his first meeting with Barbra Streisand. He said that it was one of his "special memories," according to The Times, and it happened almost 50 years ago. Charles was only 26 at the time, and "one of the world's most eligible bachelors" (via Page Six). In the special, Charles mentions that he was enamored by her "dazzling" talent, and even included her song "Don't Rain on My Parade" from the musical "Funny Girl" on his playlist.

It was actually on the set of "Funny Girl" that Charles got to meet Streisand for the first time when his Royal Navy frigate was based in San Diego. From there, the two became friends, and even attended some events together in the '90s. Streisand even at one point joked that if she "had played [her] cards right, [she] could have been the first Jewish princess." As we all know, Charles and "The Way We Were" actor did not end up together, but can you just imagine? A story of a U.S. actor marrying a royal prince. Sounds a little familiar to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, right?
