As a longtime interior designer, Leanne Ford is known for her good taste when it comes to home decor and design. Ford first got noticed after redoing a 1907 schoolhouse in her hometown of Pittsburgh; the finished product was featured in Country Living magazine in 2013. On TV, Leanne Ford works alongside her brother to create gorgeous homes filled with Ford's signature style. But while she knew fans loved her for her interior design work, a big focus also became her own personal wardrobe. According to House Beautiful, Ford began to receive DMs after certain episodes aired asking about her outfits. "I honestly think it's funny," she told the outlet in 2018. It's all about shapes and silhouettes for Ford
It's no secret that Leanne Ford has style — in fact, she was a fashion stylist for 15 years before she switched gears and began to focus on interiors (via InStyle). One big style tip Ford focuses on is the shape of an outfit, opting for larger or smaller clothing to create a unique look that works. "I always play with proportions," Ford told InStyle. "You can be wearing a T-shirt and jeans, but how it fits creates a look for you."
As for her closet staples, Ford tends to look for larger pieces, like blazers, overalls, bell-bottoms, and dresses, which she likes to style over pants. "I like to wear dresses over pants, all the time, because it's practical for what I do," she told House Beautiful. "It's practical with a little oomph."
But quite possibly her biggest style trick is to shop outside of your comfort zone. Ford often shops in the men's or boy's sections and never pays attention to the size, but rather how it fits. She also never strays from one-of-a-kind pieces, knowing they will make a perfect outfit at some point. "It's like thelittle black dress: If you're looking for it, you'll never find it," she explained to House Beautiful. "So when I see something I love, I get it, which is how I am with clothes and furniture. Even if you don't know where it will live, get it while you can. Save it until it's ready."
