Here's What You Don't Know About Teen Mom OG's Catelynn Lowell
When it comes to Teen Mom OG, or even the MTV franchise at large, you don't get much closer to #couplegoals than Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra. Long-time fans of the show and predecessor 16 and Pregnant will know these two have been each other's ride-or-dies since they were pre-teens and remain fully committed to this day. Married and settled with two children, the Lowell-Baltierras are living proof high school sweethearts sometimes are meant to be.
They've endured plenty of hard times over the years, of course, particularly when it came to the adoption of their first child, Carly, whom Lowell was pregnant with as a teenager (hence their taking part on the hit show). The young couple also frequently battles against the legacy of their parents, who have struggled with addiction and prison stints, among other things. No matter what happens, though, they will always have each other.
The reality star always defends her relationship
Even though they've been together forever, Lowell and Baltierra frequently battle accusations of infidelity. Speaking to Us Weekly in April 2020, she argued, "Tyler and I are together all day every day! For people to think that he cheats is ridiculous and you obviously don't know his character because he would never be able to cheat and not tell me. It would drive him insane." The couple renewed their vows in Hawaii in season eight, with Lowell explaining it was a chance for them to start fresh.
Later that same year, the reality star countered rumors the couple was on the brink of divorce in an interview with Champion Daily. Lowell stated emphatically, "There is nothing wrong [with] our relationship. Tyler and I have made it through thick and thin and we are each other's everything." Although the Michigan native acknowledged they've had their problems, just like any other couple, she also reasoned, "We've spent over half of our lives together."
Catelynn Lowell wants one more baby
In December 2020, Lowell revealed she'd suffered a devastating miscarriage. The MTV star wanted to let other women know "you are not alone." The Teen Mom OG breakout subsequently got an in memoriam tattoo to mark the loss. Lowell previously suffered another miscarriage prior to giving birth to daughter Vaeda (via People). The couple has three children total including Carly, with second eldest daughter, Novalee, born in 2015.
She and Baltierra are eager to have one more child, however. As Lowell told Champion Daily, "I know that when the time is right it will happen." Lowell even acknowledged, in an interview with Us Weekly, that the couple would be open to adoption if they can't conceive naturally. If any duo is strong enough to endure such loss, come out the other side and give a baby in need a home, it's assuredly Lowell and Baltierra.
