What Barack Obama Really Thinks Of Kamala Harris
Since being named as Joe Biden's running mate, Kamala Harris has garnered a lot of support. One person in her corner is Barack Obama, who issued a statement in support of the potential future vice president.
In a Twitter post, Obama said that Biden "nailed this decision." He wrote, "By choosing Senator Kamala Harris as America's next vice president, he's underscored his own judgment and character. Reality shows us that these attributes are not optional in a president. They're requirements of the job. And now Joe has an ideal partner to help him tackle the very real challenges America faces right now and in the years ahead."
Obama cited Harris' successful political career, saying that it is proof that she will make a great VP. "I've known Senator @KamalaHarris for a long time," he wrote. "She is more than prepared for the job. She's spent her career defending our Constitution and fighting for folks who need a fair shake."

Obama continued, "Her own life story is one that I and so many others can see ourselves in: a story that says that no matter where you come from, what you look like, how you worship, or who you love, there's a place for you here. It's a fundamentally American perspective, one that's led us out of the hardest times before. And it's a perspective we can all rally behind right now."
Harris and Obama's relationship goes back more than a decade. As noted by The New Yorker, she was one of the first elected officials in California to endorse his presidential run. Harris has often drawn comparisons to the former president, as both are biracial, but Harris has rejected being called "the female Obama."
"Listen, I was the elected district attorney of San Francisco, I was the elected attorney general of the state of California — twice elected to both positions," she told The Atlantic in 2019. "And now I'm a United States senator, and only the second Black woman elected to the United States Senate. "I think I've earned my own legacy."
