Details About Tarek El Moussa's Engagement
Fans first came to know and love Tarek El Moussa as the husband and co-host of Christina Anstead on their hit HGTV show, Flip or Flop. When the two split in 2016, the show continued on, their easy rapport powering it through what was likely an awkward time for both parties. They were married for nine years and share two children.
In the intervening years, the ex-spouses, who finalized their divorce in 2018, have worked hard at co-parenting their children, while simultaneously finding new love elsewhere. Anstead settled down with another TV star, Ant Anstead of Wheeler Dealers fame. The two wed in December of 2018 and welcomed their first child together less than a year later. El Moussa, meanwhile, also has been seeing a fellow reality star, in the form of Selling Sunset's own Heather Rae Young. The two have been seeing each other for a year.
Tarek El Moussa popped the question after a year of dating
The Flip or Flop star took to Instagram to share the happy news, writing, "She said yes!" alongside a shot of him looking very dapper in a tux, placing a ring on the finger of an evidently ecstatic Young, who reposted the pic with the caption, "The Future Mrs. Tarek El Moussa!!!!" The happy couple was celebrating their one year anniversary over a romantic weekend in Catalina Island, Ca., which included a romantic candlelit dinner complete with personalized menus boasting photos of the two of them happily snuggling up together (via Instagram).
It's been a whirlwind romance for El Moussa and Young, who moved in together shortly after they started dating. The Flipping 101 host nonchalantly shared the news on Instagram with followers last year, gushing about how lucky he was to go to sleep and wake up with Young every day.
Heather Rae Young was a big hit with Tarek El Moussa's kids
El Moussa ensured his children were on board with Young before their relationship progressed. As he told Today, he wasn't interested in dating around because it would risk making his kids uncomfortable. "I was waiting for the right one, who I thought would be right not only for me, but for my kids to meet. With Heather, I knew right away, and that was it," he explained. He approached his eldest, daughter Taylor, first sharing that he had met someone special and, "Just like Daddy, she is also on TV and in real estate."
Both Taylor and her younger brother Brayden were shown photos and videos of their father and Young together, so they could get used to the idea before meeting her. When the time came, it was during their regular family dinner night. Thankfully, the kids took to El Moussa's new lady immediately and vice versa. They'll surely be just as excited to welcome the Selling Sunset star to their family officially, now the happy couple is engaged.
